On October 21, the Baptist Men hosted a church wide breakfast with speaker Chip McGuirt. Chip is a disaster relief team leader for the NC Baptist Men. He has led disaster relief teams all over North Carolina. He encourages North Carolina churches to build volunteer teams of all professions and age groups for disaster relief projects, especially ongoing work in the east after Matthew and Florence. "You have to remember what's important when you're doing this work," Chip tells his volunteers. "It's not the house, it's the people. Some of the houses I rebuilt in Johnsonville and other cities have already been destroyed again. But the relationships I built with the people there--that is the important thing." The Baptist Men are planning a disaster relief trip to the east in the coming weeks. The WMU and other church mission groups are planning to assist in cleaning the eastern Baptist Children's homes.
