Preschool teachers created packets to help their preschoolers keep learning at home. Parents brought their kids to take their packets off of Carol Adam's front fence.
Just as through the disobedience of the one man, the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man, the many will be made righteous. (verse 19, NIV)
The food pantry was open but operated under special procedures Thursday March 19. All food was delivered to cars in prepared bags by volunteers with gloves. We served 70 people compared to the usual 40-50.
On Wednesday March 18, we tested a Facebook livestream Romans bible study, beginning where the adult Wednesday night bible class left off at Romans 5. The Governor's executive order discouraging groups of more then fifty people remains in effect. We completed discussion on Romans 5:1-11, and will pick up there next Wednesday, live at 7.
Relay for Life's theme this year was Striking Out Cancer. We raised just over $4,000 for Relay for Life with entertainment by the awesome Hickory Grove Quartet. First place in money raised went to Kay Surles' table. Second place in funds raised went to Phyllis Toothman's table. Third place in money raised went to Brenda Barnes' table. Amy Holmes and Jean Whittington/Ann Massengill tied for Most Creative.
Lord, we confess our sins before you. We confess that we have fallen short of your glory and your intent for our lives. Open our eyes that we may see ourselves with clarity and truthfulness, that we may have eyes to see all of that within us that is not pleasing to you.
Lord, we confess to you that we have not loved as ought. We have been impatient with others with whom we could have been patient. We have disregarded those you have called us to serve. We have chosen the selfish way when you have called us to selflessness. Lord, we confess that we have not tended to the care of our souls. We have been too busy to pray. We have been too quick to speak and too slow to listen for you. We have filled our lives with all kinds of noise instead of patiently waiting like sheep for our shepherd's voice. Lord we confess our need of you. We need your grace. We need you patience. We need your guidance. We cannot see beyond the moment. We cannot worship you as we ought. As we begin this solemn journey toward the cross, we call upon your mercy and your love for our salvation. (The Prayers of Confession) |
