Family we lost in 2020:  Thurman Whittington

Mr. Thurman Henry Whittington, age, 85, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at his residence.  Rev. John Norman, Rev. Marie Fox and Amy Whittington officiated his funeral service on Friday, November 13, 2020 in the Fellowship Hall of the church. He was born on April 7, 1935 in Johnston County to the late Thaddeus and Ethel Johnson Whittington.  He was preceded in death by his infant sister, sisters, Julia Whittington Grimes, Sarah Whittington Dixon and Annie Laura Whittington Johnson and a niece, Janet Evans Norris.  Mr. Whittington was a US Army Veteran and a lifelong electrician, retiring from Watson Electrical in Raleigh in 2003.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Four Oaks where he served as a deacon, electrician, elevator operator, head usher, building and grounds committee and received the Bryan McLamb Man of The Year award in 2004 and 2009. 
Surviving include his loving wife of 54 years, Lola Belle Massengill Whittington; loving children, Amy Benita Whittington, Thurman Neal Whittington and wife, Dee; grandchildren, Raynor Elizabeth Whittington and Salem Arabella Whittington; many nieces and nephews.
